Live (In-Play) Betting
Live betting — also called in-play betting — lets you place wagers while the game is happening. Odds, spreads, and totals update in real time as the score and game flow change.
What Live Markets Look Like
- Updated moneyline, spread, and total at every break in play.
- Micro-markets — next drive result, next team to score, will this possession end in a turnover.
- Live player props — updated rushing/receiving/scoring lines mid-game.
- Live SGPs built from in-play legs.
Caesars vs DraftKings Live Experience
DraftKings generally posts more live micro-markets and offers in-app streaming for select games. Caesars has a slightly cleaner live UI but a narrower menu on lower-tier games. For NFL Sunday and NBA primetime, both apps are deep enough to satisfy most bettors.
Live Betting Strategy
- Watch the game. Live bettors who watch find spots the algorithm prices slowly — a key injury, a momentum swing, a referee tendency.
- Take pregame reads into the live market. If your pregame total was right but the first quarter went under by 12, the live over may now be live value.
- Use cash-out sparingly. The book builds in 15–25% margin on cash-out prices — only use it when you genuinely want to exit the position.
Common Pitfalls
- Chasing losses with rapid live bets — bankrolls disappear fast at in-play speed.
- Slippage: by the time you confirm a bet, the line can move. Most books require a re-acceptance.
- Trusting "scoreboard math" — a 7-point lead at halftime isn't a 7-point edge to the finish.
