Futures Betting
Futures are long-term bets on outcomes that resolve weeks or months down the road: Super Bowl winner, NBA MVP, World Series champion, Stanley Cup finalists.
Why Futures Pay Big
Because the outcome is far away and the field is wide, futures odds are some of the longest you'll see at Caesars or DraftKings. A +1400 Stanley Cup bet on the Bruins in October could swing into a sizeable cash-out value by April if they're trending well.
Best Times to Bet Futures
- Pre-season, before public money distorts the favorites' prices.
- Right after key injuries or trades, when books haven't fully re-priced.
- Mid-season for awards (MVP, OPOY, Coach of the Year) once you can see who is actually in the race.
Popular Futures Markets
NFLSuper Bowl, conference, division, MVP, OROY
NBAChampionship, MVP, Finals MVP, ROY, DPOY
NHLStanley Cup, Hart Trophy, Conn Smythe, Norris
MLBWorld Series, pennant, MVP, Cy Young, HR leader
The Downside
- Money is locked up for months. That stake can't roll into other bets.
- Cash-out values from the book carry a haircut — usually 15–25% under fair value.
- Field markets ("any other player to win MVP") are usually bad value once you read them carefully.
Cashing Out Early
Both Maine operators support partial cash-outs on futures. If your +1400 ticket is now priced at +400, you can lock in a portion of the profit and let the rest ride.
